Our History
LiveWorkLearnPlay was born from the belief that every community, regardless of size, should have the opportunity to experience the benefits of a mixed-use environment: neighbourhoods where people can find social interaction, business, education, recreation, and other activities. LiveWorkLearnPlay creates such an environment by planning and attracting a diverse mix of anchor and secondary uses that meet the needs of the end users of a given place.
LiveWorkLearnPlay was founded by Max Reim, with the vision of creating iconic, enduring and vibrant places that foster memorable experiences and thriving communities for generations to come. Prior to founding the organization, Max and several LiveWorkLearnPlay colleagues were involved in developing destination mixed-use village centres at resort towns across North America and Europe on behalf of Intrawest Corporation (www.intrawest.com). This experience led to the conception of LiveWorkLearnPlay’s core mission: to shape the “heart and soul” of mixed-use developments in urban villages, downtowns, college towns, and New Urbanist projects.
Since its inception, LiveWorkLearnPlay has assembled and worked with some of the world’s top planners and developers in the mixed-use real estate industry. Our many notable clients include the Canadian and United States’ governments, municipalities, health care institutions and universities and colleges across North America.
Today, LiveWorkLearnPlay is recognized as a world leader in the field of mixed-use planning, and continues to be involved in the creation of highly recognized large-scale mixed-use real estate projects around the world.
