Blue Mountain
- Town of Blue Mountains, Ontario
- | www.bluemountain.ca
Blue Mountain was transformed from a family- owned ski area to a four-season, village-centered, master-planned resort that is considered to be one of Ontario’s most successful developments.
THE PLACE
In 1998, the Weider family took its business to a new level by agreeing to the development of a mixed-use pedestrian village at the base of the resort by Intrawest Corporation, a world leader in the development and management of experiential resort destinations. The Village at Blue Mountain opened at the base of Blue Mountain in 2002. Located 90 minutes north of Toronto in the heart of the Georgian Triangle, Blue Mountain is now a year-round resort destination that caters to the local and regional populations, as well as to destination visiting guests.
OUR FOCUS
The current Principals of LiveWorkLearnPlay (formerly senior executives of Intrawest Corporation) were responsible for the acquisition, planning, development, leasing, residential sales and operations of the overall resort development project. Through this process, a pedestrian-only Village that celebrates the vernacular, culture and traditions that are indigenous to the regional area was created.
WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED
- Sold out 800 units in the Village and additional units at the base of the golf course
- Developed luxury hotels in the development, including 222 suites in the upscale Westin Trillium House
- Selected more than 75 unique restaurants, bars and retail concepts to operate in over 100,000 square feet of space
- Transformed Blue Mountain into a major destination for conference and business travel, including a 37,000 square- foot conference facility
- Established a Community Drivers & Animation (CDA TM) system and programming for the Village, which now hosts over 65 different programs and events annually
